Rotary Father Christmas collection raises over £2000
for Charity
David Fasey, the President of the Wellington Rotary Club told the Town Guide Online that he was absolutely delighted with the results of the Christmas collection which had raised £2157.00. Rotarians from the Wellington Club and the new Wellington District Club and members of Wellington Inner Wheel accompanied Santa when he toured the town over six nights during December. David said that the collection was for Rotary Charities including SSAFA Forces Help (Soldiers, Sailors and Airmens Families Association), Hope & Homes for Children and Taunton Women's Refuge and, although the money collected would be of considerable help to the charities, the joy on the faces of the children made the cold and at times wet journey around the streets of Wellington & Rockwell Green all worth while. He finished by thanking all the collectors, drivers and supporters, especially Ken Coles for providing the sleigh and Chris Cardwell who organised the collection, as well as all the people who so generously gave to the charities and not least huge thanks to Santa for giving up his time at such a busy time of year.
